The Skagit Spey Line is designed to meet the needs of Skagit style spey casting that utilizes short heavy heads in combination with heavy sinking tips and big flies. A short casting stroke will propel heavy sink tips and big flies great distances with little effort. The Skagit style spey cast is easy to learn and an effective fishing method for both novice and experienced spey casters.
The recommended length of the head is no more than three to three and one-half times the length of the rod. The Skagit spey features a 27ft. head with a loop. By attaching a standard RIO 15ft. tip, floating or sinking, the line will have a head length of 42ft, perfect for the 12ft. - 13ft. spey rods. For longer rods, 14 ft. simply add a 5ft. RIO Skagit Cheater, and for rods 15ft. and longer add a 10ft. RIO Skagit cheater to achieve the desired head length. When dredging is required, a 9ft. or 10ft. section of RIO T-14 is redommended. The line has a yellow head and a green running line to identify how far to strip in to the rod tip for optimum performance, (casts best with one to two feet of running line outside the rod tip).
This is the easiest and straightest casting line I have ever cast, you simply must try it !!
