What is the best choice for an entry level spey rod?
Temple Fork Outfitters has a selection of four outstanding
TFO two-Handed Spey rods intended for the beginner spey caster. We feel that the best choice for a first beginner spey rod should be a 14 foot 9 weight rod. This rod gives the highest level of versitility for varying fishing conditions and casting distances. Temple Fork also offers a 12 ft. 6" 6 weight rod that is very nice for smaller rivers in summer and fall conditions. They have a 12 ft. 6in. 8 weight, again good for smaller rivers but can handle the wind better and cast some farther. Then of course the 14 ft. 9 weight mentioned above, and last but far from least is the 15 ft. 10 weight for large rivers, heavier flies or tips and any kind of weather you have courage enough to fish in. Retail for all four rods is $250.00
